January 2022 email update from Kirah McLean (pm session): "I'm living down in Orlando and working at the level 1 trauma center here (ORMC) on their heart failure PCU as an RN on nightshift. But I'm really excited as I am going to be moving to St Petersburg later this month to work as an OR nurse, something I fell in love with during nursing school. It's a 6-8 month orientation program where I'll get trained in pre/intra/post-op care as well as cross training as an anesthesia tech.
I finished my ASN degree in May and will be starting my last semester of my BSN program in a week. So far my BSN program is going well; I just finished the Fall semester with a 4.0 gpa. I'm getting my bachelor's from the University of Central Florida and my associates was from Lake Sumter State College."

December 2021 email update from Olivia Gonzales (pm session): "I am currently attending GVSU and will be completing my Bachelors of Science in Psychology with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality studies. I am currently applying to grad school for... Occupational Therapy!! My plan is to obtain my Masters and to specialize in Pediatrics." Great job, Olivia!
Congratulations! to Tiffany Wojda (pm session). In an email dated 11/28/21, Tiffany identified that she was accepted into the Delta College PTA program. She is engaged as of July 30, 2021; her wedding is planned for June 2023. She has been working on the neuro floor at Mid-Michigan Medical Center in Midland for three years and prior to that she worked for three years at Huron Woods in Kawkawlin.
Mrs. Birchler learned in August 2021 that Taylor Ayres (am session) is working night shift at Mid-Michigan in Midland with another student from PT/OT/Sports Med, Mackenzie Bickham Smith from the pm session of 2016/2017. Small world!
Mrs. Birchler was having lunch with Dr. Musselman in Midland on January 29, 2020. Before departing Mrs. Birchler stopped to admire a darling one year old girl at the table across from her. When the adult turned, it was Gabby Yanoski (pm session) who is a nanny to the child. It was a delightful surprise! Gabby is a full time nanny and is also taking classes at Delta College for a human resources degree.
Email message from Kendra Zaucha (am session) on June 24, 2019, requesting a PTCAS letter of recommendation. Kendra is applying to the DPT programs at CMU, Grand Valley, Oakland, Wayne State and The University of St. Augustine in Florida.
Email update from Carly Alderson (am session) received January 8, 2019: Carly is a student at Grand Valley State University and is applying for the Radiation Therapy program.
Alexis Elliott (pm session) attended the 2018 Alumni Networking Event. Alexis will finish early at CMU in spring 2019. She is planning on getting a DPT degree. She had to stop running after three knee surgeries. She also successfully coached the track team from Clare High School to states.
Email update from Kirah McLean (pm session) on May 7, 2018. Kirah will finish up an associate's degree this summer and has been accepted at Lake Sumter's nursing program which she will begin this fall. Congratulations, Kirah!
Email update from Jordan Federer (am session) on May 2, 2018. Jordan finished her two years at Delta College. She now lives in Maryland and is an independent insurance agent at Susquehanna Insurance Group.
Email update from Sarah Nagel (pm session) on April 30, 2018: "I'm still working on getting into nursing clinicals. I am hoping to get in for the fall semester."
Email update from Katie Polisano (am session) on December 13, 2017. Katie is attending Oakland University and just completed a class and lab in anatomy. She said she did well because of the anatomy she learned at Career Center. Katie is preparing for grad school by lining up job shadow opportunities for the summer.

E-mail update on February 13, 2017 from Bailey Wegener (pm session): " College is treating me good up in Marquette. I'm on my second year in the Speech, Language, and Hearing Science Program and I love it. I'm really grateful for the opportunity you gave me to go and mentor an SLP, because that is what really changed my mind into this field of study. This summer I am looking to work at Bay Cliff Health camp in Big Bay, MI. It's a great opportunity and I was talking to a recruiter the other day and I was telling him about the mentorship and how that was great observational experience when working with a child with a disability. I forgot to talk to him about the Boss Mustang Project, but definitely plan on putting the project in my application."
Email update on January 20, 2017 from Kendra Zaucha (am session): Kendra is still attending SVSU and just got a week day job after classes at Excel Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation in Saginaw. Kendra will continue working at St. Laurent's but just on the weekend. (Mrs. Birchler saw Kendra last month at St. Laurent's while Christmas shopping.)
Update on Gabby Yanoski (pm session) as provided by her sister Emily (a Culinary student who interviewed Mrs. Birchler for an English project on November 15th). Gabby is attending CMU and is in the dietitian program.
Kirah McLean (pm session) finished the Career Center nursing assistant program, passed her CNA exam, graduated from All Saints High Schoo,l and has moved to Florida. Kirah was featured in the Saginaw diocese summer newsletter for her role in establishing a Christian coffee house for high school students that opened in January 2016.

Taylor Hausbeck is graduating from Western HS and is already taking classes at Delta College. Faith Nesbitt is at CMU and majoring in communication with plans to do graduate work in speech language pathology. Katie Polisano is graduating from Western High School and will be attending Oakland University. Harmoni Tipmore plans to transfer from SVSU to Delta for the sonography program. Kendra Zaucha is at SVSU and survived college anatomy.

Kennadie Jezewski (pm session) visited the classroom on May 20, 2016. Kennadie will graduate from Western High School and plans to attend Northern Michigan University for a pre-med major. Kennadie is looking forward to seeing former classmates Bailey Wegener and Sarah Nagel who are currently attending NMU.
Kirah McLean (pm session) frequently visits the classroom before she heads to the nursing afternoon session. Kirah graduates from All Saints Central High School in June. Kirah's family is moving to Florida so she will be attending Valencia College for a year to establish Florida residency before transferring to the U of Central Florida in Orlando with plans to earn a DPT degree.
Mrs. Birchler saw Kendra Zaucha (am session) at the Garber musical on March 19, 2016. Kendra is attending SVSU and says she is doing well.
February 2016 email update from Bailey Wegener (pm session) who reports that they have lots of snow at Northern Michigan University. Bailey reports that she did really well for her first semester of college.
Parker Reynaert (am session) saw some of Mrs. Birchler's current students when they were taking a wheelchair tour while visiting the PTA program at Delta College in January 2016 and said hello to everyone.
Katie Polisano (am session) got a photo in the Bay City Times for the Western Warriors basketball team.
Mrs. Birchler was at her usual Thursday evening Zumba class at the Y and was joined by Taylor Hausbeck (am session) on January 7, 2016. Taylor said she remembered some of the choreography from last year's field trip and hopes to continue coming to the Y.

She helped the Warriors to their historic regional title by placing 20th in 20:15 then went 19:52 for 155th at the state final. Posted a season-best 19:40 at the Portage Invite. An all-Bay County first-teamer, she qualified for the Mideast Meet of Champions. She is signed to compete at Saginaw Valley State University next season.

Sarah Nagel (pm session) visited the classroom on October 9, 2015. Sarah came home for the weekend from Northern Michigan University in Marquette. Sarah just landed a job at the Nursing Tech Center. She does lab set-up and tear-down and does inventory as a clerk for the same tech center. Sarah said she is glad she saved her notes and flash cards, and she shared her experiences with Mrs. Birchler's current students.
Many students have returned to the Career Center this September for a second year. Jakob Ragels (am session) is in Mrs. Gorski's nursing class. Afternoon students include Kirah McLean in Mrs. Gorski's nursing program, Brandon Carrier in Precision Machining, Meriya Fletcher in Dental Hygiene, Olivia Gonzalez in Forensic Science, and Taylor Becker in Marketing. It's been nice to see so many familiar faces.
