Class of 2015/2016
Email update from Erin Cummings (pm session) received December 21, 2020:
"I wanted to let you know that I applied to four DPT programs-UM-Flint, CMU, WMU, and GVSU-and was accepted into all four! I plan on attending UM-Flint in their DPT program beginning Fall 2021. I have still been an active member in the Pre-PT club on campus where I was elected President Winter semester of my freshman year and still currently hold that position. I've been able to maintain a 4.0 throughout my schooling as well which I think really helped me get into all of the programs. In addition, I'm finishing up my thesis for the Honors program at UM-Flint which will allow me to graduate with Honors cords. I will be graduating with High Honors and have been awarded the Outstanding Student Award in the Health Sciences-Honors program this semester."
Wow, Erin! Congratulations!!!

Email update from Emily Hosmer (pm session) on February 7, 2019:
"Currently, I am attending CMU and I am in my second year. I plan on pursuing physical therapy and hopefully attending CMU's program. I am doing really well in school, I received a 4.0 last semester and I was taking anatomy and other very difficult classes. This semester I am a teaching assistant for developmental psychology which I really enjoy. I also am a campus ambassador and give tours around campus. I am a part of the pre-PT club and plan on applying to be on their board for next fall. Right now I am taking 19 credits and plan on taking 8 credits of physics this summer in order to graduate earlier. As well as school I work as a home health aide at A&D home health care. I keep myself busy all year round! I often talk about attending the career center and how much it benefited me! I am glad that I had the opportunity to attend and I hope that one day I can help people as much as you helped me."

Update from Tyler Parmentier (am session) when Mrs. Birchler was banking at Independent Bank on December 21, 2018. Tyler was taking health science classes in college and even earned his CNA, but he quickly discovered that his back was going to limit his career choices. He is currently working at the bank and will switch his major so that he can work in human resources. Tyler also mentioned that he recently saw Moses Lopez (am session) who is working at the newly opened Costela Brazilian Steak House in Bay City's Uptown.
June 21, 2018 email update from Kaitlyn Viaene (am session): "I am attending Delta College for one more year and then I’m off to Central Michigan University to get my doctorate in physical therapy. This has been my dream since finishing your class, and I can’t believe how far I’ve come. I play soccer here and have adapted to it well. I got a lot of playing time my freshman year and I’m probably going to be a starter my sophomore year. By the way, we did get third in the nation this past year! It was an amazing accomplishment. We traveled to New Jersey twice, winning both times, to land ourselves a spot in the national tournament. We won 2 of the 3 games we played there. Our loss put us in the bracket to play for fourth place and third place. We won in a shoot out (I was the first one to kick from my team). It was great! I think you can search them up online if you’re interested. It would be on the NJCAA website."

Jordan Varela and Moses Lopez (am session) got a little coverage for Bay City Central High School's 500th football win at Swartz Creek on August 26, 2016.
August 6, 2016 email update from Kristi Stout (am session): "I got a co-op position at Great Lakes therapeutics so I've been working there for the past three weeks. Last week we had a patient who was complaining about being dizzy so the PT I work with performed the Dix-Hallpike test. After doing so much research on vestibular disorders and learning about BPPV it was super cool to be able to see a test actually performed on a patient who has bppv. During her test the PT had me come over to watch the patients eyes and when he lowered the patient down the patients eyes couldn't focus and began to wiggle and (as you already know) that's how to see if they have BPPV. I just thought it was super cool to be able to see that happen in real life and not just on videos. I've also put so much of what I learned last year in to use! Thank you so much and I'll be sure to come visit some time this upcoming year."
August 1, 2016 email update from Taylor Anderson (am session): "This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Dow Science and Sustainability Education Center. The Dow SSEC was funded by The Dow Chemical Company Foundation in December 2013 to enhance STEM education at all levels. The Dow SSEC features a unique summer research program that promotes collaboration between high school students, teachers, SVSU students and SVSU faculty mentors. The focus of my research was DNA extraction/fingerprinting of walleye, phragmite, and zebra mussel populations. Attached is an invitation to the Dow Science and Sustainability Education Center poster symposium being held at SVSU on August 11, 2016. Please join us in recognizing the ongoing research being conducted throughout the Saginaw Bay Watershed."
